Default bend valve

so i broke my timing belt the other day and and was wondering if i bend my valve. so is there a way to tell if the valve is bend?

If you had a bent valve you would be hearing a popping sound from the intake or exhaust and it would be running like crap.

i dont hear any sound. i put a new timing belt on and the car didnt wanna start. i did put the timing belt on their right too.

did the car start?
you need to check your timing.

if that still doesnt do you may be pulling the head off.

keep the belt on do a compression check to narrow down the problem the cylinder or cylinder's that have bad valves wil have no or shitty compression

i'd say check the timing again. Same issue when we replaced my buddies head gasket and timing belt on his b16a3. couldnt get it running, but called a friend over to redo the timing and that got the car to fire right up.

1ts of tak a engrish crass... its a bent valve not a bend valve what motor is it? need some info. the timing is probably set wrong

you can do one... go buy a 30 dollar compression gauge at oreillys. unplug your dizzy pull out your spark plugs and test each cylinder

if you have access to an air compressor, i would forgoe the compression test and do a cylinder leak-down test. you'll get a better idea of what exactly is leaking, if anything.

compression test just gives you four numbers.

leak-down test will actually make a hissing sound in the intake, exhaust or both depending on which valves are bent or leaking. it will also show how bad the leak is and catch leaks that compression tests won't.
