Re: Bad injectors? (z6hatchboy)
stop what you are doin. If it is a 97 hx, you need to do the following. Either take it to a dealer and tell them that your egr plenum is plugged up and they need to clean it because it should still be under warrenty(emissions) or you can clean it your self. It isn't hard. TAke off your fuel rail. Take out injectors. REmove plenum cover (I think like 4 10mm bolts), it is directly next to the egr valve and below the fuel rail. My car was getting random missfire and it was running lean because when it is up to temp is when the egr valve opens and becasue the computer measures the amount of exhaust gas that recycles, it leans the fuel a little bit. If you want to make sure that is is the plenum then you can unhook your egr valve and run it. You will obviously get a cel for the egr valve, but if it stops misfireing then it is probably the plenum. The plenum is a maze of small passages and it gets plugged full of carbon. This is what was wrong with my 97 hx and it took me two weeks to figure it out. I did the tune up and everything else and this is what it ended up being. Mine started out as a misfire of 2 and 3 cylinders. Then eventually got the code for all of them, but 3 and 4 were the most common. I also got a code and wrote it down, but it was not in the honda shop service book. I lost the code and can't remember what it was. if you want to talk to me in person, pm me.
