Mines did that after my b20 swap... I think its my thermostat not opening all the way... But I added one of those aftermarket temp. Sensor and it works fine now... It even had a relay I could hook up a switch to to turn on and off the fan... So if my car starts to overheat and I flip the switch and nothing happens then I gotta check the relay or fuse... Worked for me... But you said your fan stays on so then just check your thermostat sensor...

I believe its a sensor on either your water pump housing or themostat housing... Your engine wire harness should plug into it... Ill yet to get a pic of it when I get home...

His talking about your temp gauge sensor. Thats the little 1P plug thats on the side of the head.

Have you tried running the car without a thermostat?

well i run the car without a thermostat for the mean while but the car will still heat up and keep the fan on.

the car does still heat up but only when i drive in the heat. if i drive at night it doesn't heat up as much. except for when i'm on the freeway for more than like 20 minutes then it heats up.

***so then does that sensor make thermostat open or is it suppose to open with the temp.???

What type of thermostat are you running? Thermostats run off a spring system, when it reaches a certain temp the spring opens which allows the coolant to flow.

Sounds like you have a headgasket problem.

^^ What he said. If you have even a crack in your HG exhaust gases will exit into your coolant.

Check your resevoir for any black film and have your gf stand behind the car while you rev it up. Thats how I found out my HG was poof!

you can also run the car with the cap off the radiator and rev the engine a little bit. If coolant goes everywhere, you have a HG problem

Compression test.

Its going to cost you about 65 dollars in parts (head gasket, VC gasket) and a thing of coolant. If you dont have the right tools I would take it to someone.

Someone started a thread asking for a DIY, one person replied with this site http://www.jdmlyfestyle.com/my...s.htm

Its a list of write ups. I think the one for the HG is for a DOHC, but captures the basic concept. You are going to need a crank pulley tool or air tools that flow the right CFM needed.

EDIT: And if you find that its not something you want to do, PM Luserkid. He took care of mine last weekend for me.

You have to purchase a compression tester. Best bet may be to just take it to someone. If you have replaced the thermo and waterpump and your fan comes on there isnt much else you can check. Maybe a leak or a clog, but other than that maybe its the HG. I didnt think my hg was blown, but it was.

doesnt coolant flow from top to bottom? IF that is the case if coolant is really hot up top and really cold on the bottom the radiator isnt letting coolant flow as fast as it should and that causes it to overcool and make the lower hose cool.
