B18C6 in to JDM EG6 help please
Hi,
Im currently half way through a engine swap from a JDM B16A to a UK B18C6. I have been told to use my wiring harness off the engine the was originally in the car.
I have noticed that on my old engine the Alternator plug is round but the Alternator on the B18C6 is a half circle shaped connector. Would the alternator off my old B16A engine work effectively enough with the B18C6 engine?
There is also another connector that is a stray on the JDM wiring harness. On my old engine I had two plugs connected to the Vtec solinoide, and on the B18C6 engine there is only the one plug. I beleive the secont plug on the vtec solinoide for the old engine was for the oil pressure sensor. Question is wht do I do with it?
My thought were my ecu was chipped with a b18c6 map on it and it my bypass this or the Vtec just wont work?
Does anyone make a connector convertor for the obd1 harness to the obd2 dizzy plug rather than me having to rewire the plud to work?
or can some one point me in the direction of how to rewire it?
I have tried searching and cant find what im looking for so I must by bad at it as im sure the info is out there somwhere
Any help would be most appreciated
Thanks
Chris

Will that work fine? Are the solinoids onthe b16a designed to produce less oil pressure in Vtec than the Type-r ? or is that me over thinking?

the type r head is a ported b16 head, the soliniod will work fine its just a valve that opens, the engines oil pressure determines that.

You can use the c6 engine harness if you have it. It is obd2, but it will plug into your civics main harness. IF you do use it, you wont have to worry about changing plugs for distributor, alternator, or injectors.

This is because your car is obd1 and the c6 engine is obd2. You can reuse your obd1 alternator with no problems, if your using the obd1 harness.

Your b16 uses a pressure sensor on the vtec assembly, while the c6 has the sensor in the ecu(from what I have read).
If your using the c6 ecu, dont worry about it. If your using the b16 ecu, you can either reuse the b16 vtec assembly, or there is a way to bypass the pressure switch all together.

Sorry, I dont understand this question.

Im sure a company like http://www.rywire.com can make you a harness.
But if you are using your stock harness, and your stock ecu, I would simply reuse your stock distributor.
Personally, I would:
Use the c6 engine harness(so you dont have to change any plugs), bypass the vtec pressure switch, and reuse the b16 ecu(have it chipped or tuned with a VAFC).
That will be the easiest way. Your simply cutting and splicing 1 wire at the ecu(for the pressure switch bypass) and everything else just plugs in.

Re: B18C6 in to JDM EG6 help please (Slopoke)
Thanks for all your help it is very much appreciated. I will let you know how I get on. Im pretty new to this as the only engine I have ever replaced was the one on my old RX7 and although the honda engine is easier to remove etc the wiring is the confusing part for me. It has never been my strong point.
Hopefully I will get it up an running by Tuesday
Thanks Again

Unless he uses the c6 harness, then he can keep all the obd2 components.
