Default B18B Swap Into 2000 Civic EX - Yay or Nay?

So here's the deal. I'm looking to part from my D16Y8 (127HP SOHC VTEC) motor in favour of a B18B for my daily driven coupe - something that could potentially add a little more power, and allow me to actually be able to pass people on the highway.

I'm in the market for a motor swap that will primarily be reliable, and will not require premium fuel fill-ups every time I visit the pumps. I'm thinking B18B (Integra LS/GS motor) - 142-horsepower non-VTEC DOHC - would be optimal, as it will not require premium fuel to run properly.

Now, the question is; what do you guys/girls think? Is this an optimal swap for what I'm looking for? Or should I (for roughly the same money) get a B16A2/3? Maybe just keep the D16Y8 and live with the lack of power.

Finally - if I do go ahead with this swap, do I need to change my whole wiring harness, or can I use the D16Y8 harness - even though it's wired for a VTEC motor?

if you actually wanna pass ppl then what your gonna need is trq, which the ls is good for. personally i would choose the b18b over a b16 almost any day. the b16 will feel VERY similar to your motor now up until vtec kicks in and it requires 91 octane. i have a b18b in my car and i love it, i just wish i could hear vtec scream like i do on my friends car but thats ok cuz im going turbo.

i'd get the b18b... b16s are weak for a daily driver car..

I wouldn't say the are weak. It's a great little reliable motor - but I can't justify filling it up with premium fuel to only get 160HP out of it (seeing how gas prices were at the end of the summer, it's not worth it).

Although it would probably require premium fuel, since you were considering the b16, i guess the fuel thing isn't a problem so...

I say boost the engine you already have
