yes it is, and no it isnt.

you cannot plug the p28 into your current wiring harness for your motor. BUT! that would be my choice of ecu to run on that motor. what you need to go and buy is a OBD2 (not sure if the 00 ex is obd2a or obd2b or if it even matters) to OBD1 conversion harness. boomslang sells them, phearable.net (highly recommended by me from personal experiance) sells them, skunk2 sells them.. or there is the ever popular EBAY harness for way cheaper, but you get what you pay for.

cheers

the p28 needs to be chipped to effectively run the b16.....it was not made to run that motor.....i would run a pr3 if you wanna run a stock ecu, otherwise have it chipped. and youll still need the obd2-obd1 ecu jumper harness.....hope that helps

I'm actually doing a similar swap into my 2000 dx. And i'm doing as much research as possible. But here's what I got so far you need the 00 si rear bracket and si top driver mount. Your ecu (p2p) is obd2b which sux because it has an immobilizer feature which makes it extremely difficult to do swaps with. The p28 you have is a great ecu to use. I'm just unsure about the harness situation and trying to figure it out myself. I want to say use the harness for the engine but I don't know if it will plug into the car right. goodluck man I'm gonna subscribe and hopefully we can both get our answers. All I know now is that swapping into a '00 ek is a

i thought the immobilizer feature was part of the security module and it just triggered the ecu to not engage the fuel pump? the reason i ask is because my buddy is running a chipped p28 in his 2000 ex and only bought the ecu jumper harness and ecu.

The immobilizer is part of the ECU itself.

never knew that.....how come it doesnt affect the car with the p28- does it just remove it altogether when you change ecus?

The pr3 was for the obd0 b16 engines that and the PWO, the obd1 b16 ecu is the p30, then you have the Gsr ecu's the p61 for the B17 and the p72 for the B18c1

he is correct, my mistake about the pr3...it is the p30

you need an obd2b-obd1 conversion harness and get that p28 chipped. you should be good. i mean as long as you got axles and a shift linkage

Ok so i dont know if its been said before, but i was just told that for the 00 civic's the only harness we can use is the ones from the 96-00 civics for the reason that 92-95 civics and all integras use a 2 peice harness that will not plug into our cars. idk if this is considered "thread theft" but heres a link to my own thread if you want to read more in depth what I was told. H-T user B18C5-EH2 posted basically an entire essay on an obd1 engine into our cars, so it will definitely clear up some questions, but warning, it isnt for the mechanically queezy. im still taking it in haha. there are also a couple of links in his response and i found to be EXTREMELY useful. again i do apologize for posting a link to my own thread, i just thought it would be very informative.

Yes its the right ECU for your car, with the right harness OBD2 to OBD1. Just open the ECU and check to see if its not already chipped.? If not chipped just get chipped and tune when you get done with the motor installation, so the car will run right and it will give you alot more options to tunning in the future....

you need OBD2B to OBD1. An OBD2a jumper harness will not work.

The immobilizer is in the ECU, and the P28 was not equipped with one, so you shouldn't have to worry about it. I believe it was only in OBD2B p72s, p73s, and whatever comes in the prelude.
