B16A3
Has anybody swapped a B16A3? I've got the stock D16, so it is like 30 more hp, but is the cost and hassle of swapping it worth that 30 when I could just wait a year or two for a B18?

The power gains aren't going to be that much better in a B18. What B18 are you getting exactly? And the 'hassle' will still be there.

Re: B16A3 (purpleandgreen)
yeah I'd be pulling it from a del sol, but the del sol is a little lighter than my civic I think so it might not have the same power in my civic as it did in the del sol

I'd be getting the C5 which is 60-70 more hp than the D16 and it's the top end motor so a C5 would be totally worth the swap. Plus the B18 is a little bigger than the B16 so the power would be better in a heavier civic

Re: B16A3 (purpleandgreen)
After reading what others have said about it, it's a kinda 50-50 motor. A lot of people said it's a good motor in the right chassis. But would a 93 coupe be the right chassis I wonder?

In Japan, b16a2 (almost identical motor) came in our EGs. You can put any motor into any car with enough knowledge and power. Personally, I would go for the B18C (JDM GS-R). It has decent numbers for being stock and has a lot of aftermarket parts available for it.

B16 what? I would get a JDM b16a (rated at 168hp) from HMO for about $2500 shipped; with everything you need included.

Coupe. I am happy with it. I got it probably 4 years ago when it was even more expensive, but back then a GSR swap was a good grand more and type-R swaps were close to $5k.
Of course a 1.6 is not gonna be a torque monster, but it is still a good motor and I have beat on it since I've had it and it still runs like a champ.

B16 (have one in my hatch) it's enough to have fun, also great on gas milage even when you get on it. B18 not bad either, they are both potential motors. Lots of aftermarket support also.

The del Sol si came with the d16y8 and the Del Sol "vtec" (even though the si is vtec) came with the B16a3 from '94-97.

I would pick a GSR with B16 tranny . Honestly, I guess that is the great thing about the B16 is the tranny. It allows you to use the powerband (or lack thereof) of the B16 very well.

Re: B16A3 (4F_HANS)
either turbo the single slam motor or. put the b16 in asap and start building a 1.8L bottom end. then when your 1.8 is done, throw your B16 top end on it and then of course. Turbo it!!
