maybe its me........ maybe its not me..... but please tell me that stock b16's are slow...... 5th gear it has no power...... 3rd seems like the best gear..... ive had my 2000 civic si.. with only a intake (not that it matters) and i just want to know... is it just my car that is slow? i know 160hp isnt a ferrari.... but im just saying..... is everyone happy with their b16's?
In your '00 Si, yes, the B16 isn't exactly fast. The B16 is an awesome motor in terms of reliability and in the right chasis can be very fast. My EF hatch had a B16 with bolt-ons and ran 14.3 in the 1/4.
If you want to be fast with your car and a B16, probably gonna have to have forced induction or some engine work. Bolt-ons will not cover this one. Sorry, I know this isn't what you wanted to here.

i know........ it doesnt have torque or anything. i was just wondering if people felt the same way....... i love my car.. just that it needs a lil more umph...... and besides...... the transformation is already ordered!
b16 = same torque as a d series.
only 30 bhp over the d series.
It's common for the b16 to feel like a d16 until you get to 4-5000 rpms.
That's one motor I'll never swap into my car. Under any circumstances just because of how many threads i've read that go like this "I swapped a b16, it's not much different from my d16, what's wrong?"
The only way to efficiently coax power out of it if FI.

i just feel kinda bad.. cuz growing up. people were like yo i got a civic si. this **** is sooooo hot....... i get one years later.. and im like.. wtf....... am i missing something here. people use to say.. yo civic si got top end.... i throw it in 5th and im like what the hell.... no *****..... i always thought my car sucked..... guess its all of the b16 owners
Yeah civic si ftl.
I always thought they looked really good, EBP is one of my favorite blues of all time.
The b16 is terrigible though. I think a y8 with bolt ons is just as fast.

Its a great engine, i know its not that powerful but i still enjoy it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Yeah, don't get me wrong, it's a fun high reving motor that lasts. It's a perfect platform if you plan on boosting anyway. But for anyone who expects their swap to make their civic a fast street car is barking up the wrong tree.

5th gear is for cruising, wtf do you expect? It's the longest gear so of course it going to be slow. It's not a bad motor.

I have one too. I am not complaining i am straight with mine. duh it ain't the fastest but then again this motor isn't a torque motor either. if you plan on dragging it that would not be smart. its more of a road course motor.IMO

a stock si will run approx. 15.7 according to http://www.albeedigital.com/su....html
i have a gutted 95 dx minus the sound deading material, and i could only get 15.2 with traction problems and launching @ 3k. so with slicks i'd deff. be in the mid to low 14's. Your car also wieghts about 25-2600 lbs

Heh. Its not so bad. I mean its not great. But with some FI you'll be putting down some fast times and numbers.
Try driving around in my EG with a d15b7 for a day. LOL. Swapping out soon so it'll be fine.
