help!!! avantages of b18 to b16 in a del sol??
I was just wondering if someone could give me some advantages of swaping a b18 in in stead of a b16, because everyone says the b18 is so much better but as far as i can see the b6 is cheaper, lighter, has more parts for it, and is eaiser to intsall. i have a 94 del sol with the d15manual. Also which would get me around 250 hp as a daily driver with no boost the eaisiest? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you want to go n/a a b16 or a b18 would be a bad choice.
You need at least a b20.
If not that then an h22 or a k20a2

research, this has the makings of a flame thread.
cliffs: its easier to make more power out of a bigger engine. 250 NA HP out of a b series??? you better have an *** load of money.

i was also thinking about the vortec bolt on supercharger, if 250 horse is out of the question without all new guts in it. alhough a b18 with basic bolt ons could prob. get around 200hp don't you think?

NO BOOST? trying to hit 200 @ whp? gonna cost you more in the long run. A good "bang for your $" suggestion is B18 LS motor, JDM ITR headers, run 2.5" piping, for low boost turbo. NO other MAJOR work is needed in this set up.

Re: (tpep13)
i already told you 160 is realistic, with a b18 and even i dont believe that. seriously. i was 17 when i started readin on here too. just get whatever you can on a budget i would get a b18 nonvtec and be happy with the streetability , then piece together a turbo kit and make some good power by the time you are 20

Go Tigers!
then get a d16z6 and turbo it.
Or be like those other guys that want to do some stupid *** turbo k20 build in their eg.
they buy a block and a turbo, then sell everything because they can't afford it.
turbo d16z6 for you = reasonable setup that can give you good power.

you can get close to or slightly above 200whp with a bit of comression, headwork, cams, as well as a good intake mani, and header/exhaust...if you rev the **** out of it you will break 200whp lol.

Re: (4drgsr96)
get what you can afford to get. preferably a 1.8L if u happen to pick up a b18b cool build it up and ull see more horsepower. if u pick up a b18c1 even better, if u pick up a b18c5 your gonna be absolutely fine hitting atleast 200 with boltons. im at 216whp with a b18c5 motor with full boltons and a set of cams. i could have gotten even more out of it but i chose to detune it because of reliability and longevity of the motor.
250whp out of an all motor setup is incredibly expensive. your going to have to build everything and you wont get that out of a b16 and still use pump gas. if u want 250whp ur looking a some kind of forced induction. 200whp is an easy goal for a b18 motor.

With all that work, gonna costs as much if not more than slapping on a mild turbo kit with low boost. NO internals needed. Besides the turbo itself, next costly item is the HDM ITR headers (new for about $400. if you get lucky 'n find someone selling theirs used for under $300)

its easy if you have the money and time to spend on it.
jesus , just do what you can, instead of spending it on a car save your money for a down payment on a house, youll have plenty of it by the time youre 21

Exactly, in almost every aspect of a build. More work, more $$ on vtec vs. non-vtec.

i'd go ls yes cuz its cheaper. i have a gsr engine and its not that great, then again it just has an exhaust...
my friend has an b20 vtec, another with an ls turbo. less money and more power out of the ls-t and its been going 70k and still hass good compression numbers

Re: (drtysohc)
It's gonna cost you an ITR swap to get that B16 over 200hp at the wheels.
Go with an H22a or F20B swap if you wanna make power all motor.
My suggestion for good power?
Get a B18B1 and turbo it - you can make about 260-270whp safely at the wheels on stock internals w/o endangering anything (as long as you're on a good tune).
EDIT:
Ah, I missed the last part of your question.
You're looking for 250whp all motor the easiest?
H22 w/ a B series transmission (H2B) and trying to raise the compression is your best bet.
Making it with a 4cyl is gonna be a pain in the *** w/o dropping an assload.

Re: (Syndacate)
b18b because it's bullet proof.
Vtec Shmetec. More bottom end power with non-vtec cams. Not to mention with a head job you can make crazy power. Oil pickup is an issue though in bigger applications.
Cheapest setup for you is doing to be taking what motor you have, and turbo it.
