B16a2 swap HELP !!!!!!!!
ok so i got a b16 out of a 99 si and put it in my 99 ex , the motor has ITR cams,ITR intake manifold,DC Headers ,Injen intake ITR TB.
Im using the si ecu and harness it runs fine but then when i test drove it it over heated so i pulled over and cut it off to see if it was leaking coolant or anything no leaks but the car wouldnt cut back on i had to push it back to my house .
Any body have ideas why it A) OVERHEATED B) WONT START NOW
THANKS ALOT

A, either thermostat stuck closed, you had insufficient coolant, your headgasket blew, the fan doesn't work, or your detonating like a bitch because you forgot that you need the 91 octane gas while you still had the 87 in there. By SI ecu, I hope you don't mean the p28, or an ecu with the knock sensor disabled.
B, you overheated it too much and lost compression, or you did the swap wrong and something happened in coincidence to this event.

Re: B16a2 swap HELP !!!!!!!!
you maybe have air in the coolant lines? causing it to overheat.
ive got no comment on it not starting after wards though, bump so someone with some knowledge can help you out.

welli forgot to say i replaced the thermostat, i did have 87 in the car but went andput 93 in it,the fan does work, not BHG cause no smoke or visible leaks ,why cant you use the p28 ?
so i lost compression = me being ****ed ????

Re: B16a2 swap HELP !!!!!!!!
you losing compression means you warped something, most likely the head.
because the p28 doesn't look for a knock sensor, so if your motor was detonating like a ****, your p28 doesn't know and it can't retard the timing for ya.

Re: B16a2 swap HELP !!!!!!!!
check your spark plugs to see what happened inside the chamber, you should be able to find a chart somewhere online.
You should run a chipped ecu with the itr basemap.
Check your compression first, if it's down then I say put that y8 back in a do a breakdown, pull the head and if obvious warping is not seen, then take it to a reputable shop and ask them to check for warping, they'll measure it for you and will tell you if its warped or not, next get the block checked, if they're good reuse em, if not then replace them and go from there. or be a scamming ***got and sell it as a running motor and hope that they don't bring a compression tester.

Regarding the no start, because the fuel pump does not prime, you should check the main relay and for blown fuses under the hood and dash. Do you also lack spark? If so, check the critical ground wire on the thermostat housing. Is the CEL ON?

Re: B16a2 swap HELP !!!!!!!!
don't crap you pants just yet. Might just be a bad tester, at least they were all the same numbers, try another test with another tester. If your test read 200 120 200 200 thats really bad. Try it again with different comp tester.
