b16 grinds 2nd -> 3rd at 5000+ rpm
b16a2 (hydro tranny)
going 4th to third it doesnt, only 2nd to 3rd, and only at above 5000rpm.
its not how i'm shifting either, i've tried letting off the gas for a second, then putting in the clutch and slowly slipping it into 3rd but it still grinds
i rarely shift at higher than 4000rpm so its not that big an issue but how could i make this stop? i know its the synchro going out and i've heard of such products as synchromesh (or something close to that)...
how often do you guys change your MTF? the swaps been in there for 20k miles and havent changed it yet...

that sucks, damn 3rd gear grinds in the b16's, start looking for a new b16 tranny for plan on rebuilding it later down the road, try some of the synchromesh, it wont hurt, and it will most deff, help you.

Re: (Vtecin94dx)
i remember hearing about 2 different kinds of synchromesh and one of them kinda sucked...
i had a g2 integra that ground from neutral to 3rd, 4th to 3rd, 2nd to 3rd... EVERYTHING. and it did it EVERY time, this only does it at above 5000rpm... so it should be fine for a while.

No. Don't state opinions if you are not sure.
It is quite simply the 3rd gear Syncro. No need for a rebuild or new tranny.
If you do a search for 3rd gear Syncro or grinding then you will get thousands of threads, some with how to-s. Wouldn't recommend though if your not very mechanical.

thats what i ment, you have to open the tranny and replace the worn, syrncros, if u tear open the tranny and dont replace the other syncros that are worn a bit, you are trippin.

Re: (Arsenal)
thats damn annoying to have synchros that go out like that. very common in b18a's too. this swap only has like 50k miles on it too

on the g2 integra it would grind no matter what, i could go from 2nd to 3rd at 2000rpm and take 3 seconds to shift and it would still grind
in the first post i said with the b16 i've tried letting off the gas for a full second, pushing in the clutch slowly and all the way to the floor, then slowly slipping it into 3rd, still grinds.
shifter is stock
