finishing quarter mile in 3rd gear with b16 tranny
So I went to the track for my first time this past weekend and I noticed that when I got to the end of the track I could have just stayed in 3rd gear or switched to 4th gear for like a fraction of a second. Is this normal ? its and lsvtec with an lsd b16 tranny. My 60 foot was 2.4 and my trap speed was like 92 mph. Any input on this ?
either your redline is close to around 9k or you seem to be not making sense... 3rd gear of b16 tranny usually ends at 85mph or so w/ a 8k redline.
anyhow, with that aside... gsr have this issue. they usually top out 3rd gear at 90 mph on a 8k redline.
i now have a b16 tranny and finish the 1/4 mile in 4 gear at around 92 mph.
i say, if you are still making power in 3rd gear, keep it in third. if not, then learn how to shift quickly or do more mods to get more power.

i had lsvtec with b16 tranny, id finish teh quarter in 3rd and could keep it at redline for split second or shift into 4th
just keep it in third @ redline but not fuel cut
by the way I was trapping 102 not 85

I thought B16 gear ratios are the same as the USDM ITR tranny?

I had a 11.5:1CR B18C with ITR head, BC3+ cams. 195/55/15 es100s on stock phatties... in a 94 Acura Integra Coupe.
I was hoping to hit 100mph and lower my time but I broke an axle in the "soap box" or whatever you call it - the water.

I know this is an old *** post, but I actually had the same issue this last weekend at the track and it was driving me nuts!!
It was only my second time @ the track so I was lookin to improve my times as the first time I ran ~13.4 @ 118mph on street tires (spinnin like crazy!). I swapped my street tires (goodyear f1 gs-d3's, 185/50/15's if i remember correctly) out for some M&H dot street strips (235/60/14's). My times slightly dropped, but my speed went down (from 118mph to 111mph) and instead of being mostly into 4th gear I ended up at the end of 3rd. It was buggin me because my car felt really sluggish. It would launch better than on the street tires but after that it just felt flat. Is it somewhat normal to finish in the top of 3rd gear in a gsr tranny on this size tire?
Setup:
EJ1 (full int)
GSR engine (turbo)
gsr trans
325whp
koni yellows (full stiff)
eibach springs (450F/450R)
traction bars
Rev limit @ 9k
Tried the two step rev limit @ 5k and 6k, boost from 5psi-7psi and tire pressure from 12psi-9psi
Cliffs:
1st time @ track street tires, ran 13.4 @ 118mph
2nd time @ track M&H dot's, ran 13.3 @ 111mph
Are the tires a bit much for my whp?? Should I just stick to the street tires until I turn the boost up? TIA for any input.

I don't know if this will help, but I was trapping 118 - 122 mph with a similar setup. I was running on 215/60/14 BFG drag radials. GSR tranny in a 93 civic coupe. Of course at 120 mph +/- I was near the end of 4th gear. Pm me and I will dig up some time slips w/ the 60 foots and 1/8 miles times so you can compare.
