Default Axles

Alright I got everthing on my car disconnected, except axles .. i broke the center bolt (not sure what its called) now i am disconnected the control arm.. which I was told is the bolt on the very bottom.. i took out the pin.. and it WILL not come lose.. im using a very strong large breaker bar.. the whole car is almost coming off the jack stands.. it seems like its turning.. but wont break lose.. am i doing something wrong? thanks guys for the help

I think you are going at the ball joint. Put those back in and look for the bolt that is connecting that straight piece of metal that comes out from the middle of the car and connects to the bottom of the shock and then to the place where the brakes are.

i cant tell if he really truely does mean the balljoint. but if so go get this tool.

free at autozone (20 dollar deposit... loaner tool)


this tool is amazing. i almost didnt want to return it.. then i remembered i'm going away to college and wont need it (blah.. i should have got this tool 4 motor swaps ago )

you can also spray some p & b blaster down in there and tap the side of it with a mallet as your letting it down. the vibration along with the weight of the car should break it free.

If that doesn't work you could apply some heat to it with a propane torch and do the same as previously mentioned. this is usually a last resort because you'll end up melting the boot and having to buy a new one

You need to get a big hammer and hit that flat spot next to the ball joint, it will come lose unless you hit like a girl. Make sure you don't hit the ball joint though.

man i cannot get out the ball joint bolt .. it wont budge.. im using a 4' iron breaker bar and everything.. anyone got some ideas?
