Default Autometer mechanical guage... which line to use??

I just installed my Autometer 2 1/16" mechanical oil pressure guage this past weekend. I've come to the conclusion that the tiny nylon tube they supply with the guage sucks *** because it broke once already and leaked oil on my floormat.

Anyone know what kind of line to replace it with? Recommendations?

you are asking for a lot of **** to happen if u use that nylon on a oil pressure.

it always leaks and breaks... autometer is stupid when they included that line. oil pressure reaches as high as 190-210F in most days and that can SCALP your skin if even so much as a drop of it falls on your skin...

so upgrade to steel braided line ASAP! thats what i'm using now and been close to a year, everything a-ok.

That's what I was thinking as well... know of anywhere online where I can order it for cheap? There's a place local here that sells it for $12/foot, and 1/4" is the smallest they stock...

you should not think "cheap". if ur gonna run oil into the cabin... you want to take every precaution necessary.

you don't want **** to start spraying out while ur doing 80mph on freeway.... all that hot oil leaking and burning and possibly spraying out... did you know 80PSI squirting out of the dash into your face will rape you !

go to summitracing.com and order a 4AN NOS LINE and get the necessary adapter fittings. put those on, and you never have to do with it again.. teflon tape it. don't skimp on this!

I'll check out summit racing now. It's not that I can't afford it, I just wanted line smaller than 1/4" thick. Copper would be too stiff, be hard to maneuver the guage bezel into place (that's how the first line broke)

Or better yet, get the electronic one. That probes the pressure at the tap and sends a signal to your gauge. Much safer than having oil inside the cabin.

good luck!

Already have the mechanical one, thanks for the input though. Didn't feel like paying $200 more for an electronic guage.
