I just hooked up my autometer oil pressure guage up. I have the red wire going to my + battery post and the black wire grounded under the dash. The guage light stays on all the time. How can i hook it up so it only comes on when I turn on my headlights? If its on even in the day I dont care I just want the light to turn off when I take my key out. Thanks

wire it to an accessory power source not straight to the battery.

the battery doesn't turn off... till it's out of juice.

Wire it to the ciggarete(sp) output. I wired mine up like this and they burn out in a month or so. Now I have it wired up to its own switch and only use it at night. Those little bulbs are a biotch to find .

or you can just plug it (power) into the 5 extra spots on the front of the fuse box. i think the far right one is ignition. and the 2 far lefts are battery. 2 others are off a fuse or someshit i dont remeber. if you want exacts look in a helms

you mean the cigarette lighter LIGHT not the cig. output... the cig. lighter works all the time it's the light in the ashtray which only comes on with the lights...

basically wire it to anything that ONLY comes on with the headlights (and not the headlights because they can be turned on with the key out (ie they have constant (battery) power)).

well the way its supposed to be done is the way i stated. anything else your hacking into your harness.

use the accesory outputs on the fuse box

power (red wire) goes to the far right one

light wire (is it white) goes to the second to right one, so its white then red, from left to right
