anyone do a Walbro fuel pump install? i did, unsatisfied...
yesterday i installed a Walbro fuel pump to replace the stock one for getting ready for a motor swap. hooked up everything flawlessly. even followed some of this thread: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1572312 to help a little but overall it was rather a very simple and painless half hour job. slapped everything back together. primed the new pump several times. it's obvious that the Walbro is much louder than the stock seeing that it's gear type but didnt bother me. went to start up and had intermittent issues. fuel cut off was when it settled down to idling speed. started it about 10 different times and shuts off when reaching normal idle. possibly not enough pressure? maybe... but the Walbro is supposed to put out a lil more and more volume. so i gave it a light throttle to keep from bogging down. and eventually the pump got noticably a lot louder and then shut off. after that the pump wouldnt prime so it wouldnt start. took out the pump and it was too hot to touch. i think it went out... bad. had half a tank to start with so lube and cooling wouldnt be a problem. anyways, i put the stock one back so i could drive it again
anyone have an aftermarket pump go bad?

i had a couple friends that did the same thing put a walboro 255lph pump in and instantly was a bad pump car wouldnt even start pulled it out and it was very hot. they never called walboro they just bought another one. i would call the manufactur and see what they say. it is kind of hard to put a fuel pump in incorrectly. its a plug a filter, and a hose..

I installed a 190lph Walbro by myself and I'm a dumbass, no problems yet (knock on wood)

I did, however, notice a bump in fuel pressure on idle with the stock FPR. 52 PSI at the filter on idle is a bit high. It was 42 PSI at idle before on the stock pump that was going out. That's the only reason I replaced it. Otherwise, I notice that starting the car is a lot quicker now, so that's a plus... rather than cranking for a second or two.

dont see how id install it incorrectly. its pretty simple. anybody could figure it out. just so happens the pump went out on me. oh well... gotta keep goin

Where did you buy your Walboro from? I know that there's been MANY fake ones going around lately. It's the same bullshit a lot of sellers on eBay try to pull saying that's it's an authentic piece when in reality it's just a fake. I believe the same problem has been going around with the Greddy BOV's. Are you sure you have an authentic piece?

Kudos to you! I installed a Walbro 255LPH fuel pump about 2 months ago for my turbo civic and I haven't had any problems.. The only thing weird that I noticed is that I have to leave it in full accessory mode for about 1 second then start it or it takes a few seconds to start.. I'm thinking I need to replace my fuel filter or something...

yea it's a real walbro. it's engraved with the part # too. this came out of someone's hatch who had a b16 swap. he said it was only in for 2 months before he wanted to upgrade to something else. probly was faulty to begin with. not worried tho. only cost me $18 lol

From 'accessory' or from 'on'? Are you sticking your key in and turning right to ignition? Maybe its just a simple case of your fuel pressure not being up yet. I noticed the Walbro audibly takes a second to kick to life, but seems really healthy once that second or two is done. I always let it sit and prime, though.

did you check the tank for contamination, dirt, rust. I've seen alot of fuel problems from this. The filter can get clogged on the pump almost instantly if there's rust and debris. And a good sign of this problem is an abnormally loud pump. The walboro will make a little more noise but not much more over stock.
