Default 6th Gen Coupe (96-98) Window Problems...

For those of you who have gone through this issue did you replace the rubber(window channel)and metal channels. Also have any of you had an issue with the passenger window? Mine seems fine but it may end up like my driver's window later.

Thanks

What is the issue? I had several different problems with my window on my 96 civic.

Binding and/or coming out of the channels.

I knew exactly when I read the title...

It's happened about 3 times on each side of my coupe and it's a notorious problem for 96-00s. You only have to replace the channels if the rubber is really mangled and it won't return back into position; otherwise just put some lube like lithium grease or graphite on the inside of the channels after realigning them.

The biggest reason this happens is when the door is slammed while the window is mostly or completely rolled down. Shitty design. Don't take it to a dealership or else they'll try to get your for new channels, new regulator, new motor... like $400.

It's a common issue. You may try to adjust the window channel. You'll find a 10 mm bolt under the door panel near the speaker hole. Loosen it and scoot the channel around. Tighten the bolt back up.

Started on the driver's side, than it happened to the passenger's side. Count on it.
