Default Any issues with cutting AC belt?

Would there be any issues if I cut my AC belt other than the fact that I won`t be able to use my AC? The belt is starting to squeek, and I`m really tight on cash so I can`t go out and get a new one.

Try pouring baking soda on the belt, see if the noise disappears. It could be the A/C clutch squeeling too. And you must be REALLLY tight on cash, as these belts are not expensive at all.

Yes I am sure it`s the belt because it`s making the 'I need to be changed' sounds.

And it`s not the A/C clutch, I changed that about 4 months ago. But I was an idiot and didn`t change the belt at the same time . And yes, I`m so strapped for cash, that I need to cash in my 5 dollars in quaters for gas...I`m getting no hours at work.

belts stretch over time. try tightening the adjustment nut and see if the sound goes away. worst case it breaks off, which is what you are contemplating at this point anyway.

Ok, so I take it that that`s a no. No issues. Cool.

No issues with cutting the belt, though an attempt to tighten the belt rather than cut it may save you from a future purchase and give you the added benefit of A/C.

Ya, Ima try that first. But I may just end up cutting if tightening it does not work. Thanks Ron for a straight foward answer.
