Default belt noise?

my dc5 started having this strange high pitch squeaks. Mostly after driving on wet roads. Sometimes a few squeaks can be heard when driving with the A/C on. Does this sound like a belt issue or the belt tensioner or something else? One acura dealership could not produced the noise so they didn't do anything.

put some belt dressing on the inside of the belts and on the pulleys, stp makes it, but there are other brands, try that, although its possible it could be your ac compressor making the noise

well the pulley is still turning on it even when the ac clutch isnt engaged, id go down the belt dressing route first, just bc its cheap, then go from there

i'll keep that in mind since some people had said belt dressing only works for a short time or don't work. I'm taking it to another dealer to check. Thanks for your help

Your A/C belt needs to be retensioned. I believe that has a screw type tensioner. There is a possibility, though, that the belt is worn out. The water on the roads is lube-ing the belt and the resistance of the A/C compressor makes it slip and squeak.

The dealer just didn't take the time to think about it. You gave them all the info they needed. That belt tension problem is a common occurance.

yea the tech mentioned that it might be the belt problem but he did not want to do anything unless the noise is there all the time. Unfortunately, it's one of those random noises that come and go. I took a look at the belt auto tensioner and the helm's manual and noticed that the "arrow" on it does not point directly at the center but is within range "B". I did not notice that arrow moved either up or down direction before or after the engine is turned on.

Oh, so it is a spring loaded tensioner. I was thinking it was one that you could lock down. Did the tech check to see how much pressure the tensioner was placing on the belt? It would be rare for the tensioner to lose spring pressure but something could be wrong with it. Did he at least take a look at the belt? How many miles do you have on that belt and what brand is it?

i have stock belt with 12k miles. I seriously don't think he did anything other than spraying water on the engine since i told him it happened most in rain. I was in and out rather quick so i doubt he took apart anything. Is that arrow an indicator of belt tensioner being loose or something since it's not pointing in the center? I don't think the belts are worn out that fast with that amount of milage. I'll try to get a picture of what mine looks like now.

No, a stock belt shouldn't slip after that amount of mileage. I guess they will just have to get in there and actually spend some time on it rather than giving up. This only happens with your A/C belt on right? How does your A/C work? Does it seem to work OK?

the a/c seems working fine, it just squeaks a few times when the car is in motion but no sound when idles. But no, this isn't the only time it squeaks. Like i said, it squeaks a lot when driving in the rain. Here's a picture of the belt tensioner indicator. The arrow points a little off center. I checked my other two friends cars and they were pretty much pointing at the dead center. I don't know if this is an indication of some sort?
