Another d16 thread
So I am on a Island called Guam and I am going to be here for the next 2 years and I am getting deployed for the next four months so I am trying to figure what motor I want to buy when I get back. Or if I want to build my d16. Here is my goal it is to have a daily driver but I want to have at least 250 to 300 hp to the wheels. So the question is what should I do? I don't want to spend over 2 grand. And over here it is hard to tune a car because there is no dyno. With that being said I would prefer to go all motor with b series or d. I was looking into Frankenstein a b20 or just putting a b16a or just building up my d16y8? Let me here your opinion.

250-300 to the wheels without tune? GL. especially not allmotor for less than 2grand. the bseries motor alone(for that horsepower) would cost you 2g's.

unless you wanna go GSR (which is like 4k for parts and labor if you dont do it yourself)
your gonna have to supercharge or turbocharge your d16 to make that numbers (AND TUNE IT)
not having a dyno nearby is not a reason to build a motor and not tune it
is there a way you can ship the motor +trans somewhere to be tuned?

i would eliminate the idea of a frankenstein motor if you can't tune it..
it may not be a bad idea to look for a motor that already get's this power without modification.. i think you can do an H22 or similar swap for near what your wanting to spend and there are H-series available with 200hp stock. i know there is a lot of information out there on this, and plenty of guys who have done it. check out the hybrid sub-forum

Re: Another d16 thread
The LS and B20 are about the same exact swaps. It's just that the B20 has more torque. Search it up on the forums "How to build a reliable LS vtec".
As for the H22's, it's defiantly not a fun swap to do. That is correct, alot of welding, and mounts.
From what i've heard of, it makes your front end heavy. Just don't be thinking drift when you pull corners haha.

i would agree on waiting till you get to the states. to make the power your looking for you really do need a goood good tune. with out that ablility i would hold off on any real "power" builds. we wouldnt want you to dump alot of money in a chassis just to have it blow up

You cant really go all motor on a D series. They dont make power unless they are built like race cars and therefore they have no gas mileage, etc. A B20VTEC would be fine as long as you leave the internals stock. You can get an ECU chipped and loaded with a Basemap that will be fine for a B20VTEC shipped to you from the states.

LS block is better block to turbo, since b20 are all bored out i wouldn't recommend you turbo it, unless you sleeve it.
But like everyone says, don't do a swap without a tune. Just wait until you get to the states then you can feel free to do anything you want to that car haha.
