Default Air Conditioning does not work when idling, hot in SOCal Help

When i'm driving either on the freeway or city streets (as long as i'm moving) a/c blows cold. But when i'm in traffic (most of the time in Socal) or at a red light, the air starts to get warm and my rpm starts to drop and then jump (happens often but not all the time) and i get a lot of vibration (like having aftermarket B-series front torque mounts).

Car is a stock 99 civic lx 4door. Please help its hot in SOcal plus the car is black.

AC units cool air from the outside and push them in. do you recirculate air? or bring in air from outside? recirculating recools the cool air inside the car

recirculate is the best way to cool, but if you are getting warm air when you stop then you have a bad cond. fan motor. it's pretty easy to replace, disconnect some wires four or six bolts, and work it out past the a/c lines. be sure to check the fan though, turn the a/c on, look under the hood at the condenser fan, if it's not spinning... it's bad...or disconnected..

tx for the quick replys. When i use the a/c i always recirulate the air. When the a/c is on the fan does work. How else would i check to see if the fan motor is bad?

that's very strange... be sure it's blowing strongly... if it's not that, then i couldn't tell you what is wrong without seeing the car for myself

mark35 was right, the fan wasn't running after all. Voltage was there but fan wasn't running.

not sure if you have already found the problem...but a possibility is that your iacv isnt working...my iacv is currently not working and i cant run my ac when stopped (idling) or my car will vibrate/die....not sure if these symptoms are the same but its worth a shot

It is not uncommon for the ac temp to change as rpm drop in a car. the ac pump is spinning slower...moving less coolant through the system. I can notice a huge change in temp from idle to cruising speeds in my car
