Default A/C doesnt seem to be working well... help, its getting warmer out

When ever I turn the A/C on, it blows out cool air just like the fan. I thought maybe I should let the car warm up for a little. After ten minutes of letting the car idle it still isnt cool inside the car. I had all the windows up and the A/C on full blast and it wasnt cold. It just blows out cool air. anyone know what it could be and if its expensive?

well it could be that there is low freon in the system. if so then you have a leak somewhere and will need to fix it and then refill with new refrigerant. if its r12 then it will be more expensive than r134a. probly a good 100$ for the whole thing to be running well. but it could just be something as simple as the temperature blend door is not closing correctly and mixing the cold air with the warm air.

condenser fins could be dirty, the a/c system could be low on refrigerant or oil, the a/c motor could be broken

the blower motor cant be broken bec its blowing air cool air, but none the less its blowing, and he says its cool so the compressor shouldn't be broken. but its probably low or the condensor fins dirty.

ok, but can you heare the compressor engage? do the rpms go down with the a/c on? if so then the compressor works.

Look to see if the compressor is turning off and on within a couple seconds of each other. Could be low on freon there. Also you can overfill r134a and it will not cool well. Also check to see if the condensor fan is working. And have someone spray water on the front of the condensor and see if you notice a significant change in cabin temp.

Yeah...check to see if the compressor is engaging....if it is not engaging then the freon level has dropped low enough where the compressor will automatically not come on. You might have a leak somewhere in the system and gradually over time the freon leaked out. The first thing to check if the compressor is not clicking on is the fuse....check to see if the A/C fuse if broken. Good Luck!

Also when you turn the ac on and you know the compressor is engaging check the evaporator bubble to check if you can see coolant moving through. Or find the release valve on one of your ac lines and push it down for a sec with some needle nose, it should be highly pressurized, mine makes a sqeal like nobodys business, I'll soon be replacing my compressor on my beater so I feel your pain.

Maybe try cleaning the radiator and check to make sure you don't have the recirculating button pushed. I doubt these are the problems because their most logical, but ya never know.
