Default aem fpr adjustments

i just installed an aem fpr in the 93 civic. its a d16z6 swap. what i was told by a freind of mine who is a honta technician is that the black smoke the car is blowing could be the cause of a bad stock fpr. so i got the aem. i also wanted to lean out the car too and try to get some more mile per gallon from this car. i dialed the psi to 40 pounds. the car runs really smooth now but i dont know if im consuming more fuel at 40 pounds. what would be a good setting to save fuel while leaning out the car at the same time AND preventing the black smoke too. if this is at all possible......

thanks
