AC turns on by itself.
Everytime I turn on my heater for the front windows, because its foggy in the mornings....my ac turns on by itself when I slide it to hot and to the 1 position.
Is this normal?

so its cold in the morning right? wouldnt it make sense for the heater to need a little time to warm up? i mean its cold all night so it just makes sense for it to blow some cold air for like a minute or so..

Re: AC turns on by itself.
Well it's normal and it's done because air that has been air conditioned defogs the windshield better.
However, I personally find it annoying as hell because 95% of the time I find it unnecessary, and I would much rather turn it on when I need it rather than having it come on every time and me having to turn it off almost every time..
Does anyone know of an easy way to disable this feature ?

Re: AC turns on by itself.
I think if you use the defrost/feet setting the AC won't turn on.
What car is it? If you google your car I'm sure you can find info on how to turn it off. I think on EKs or CRVs there was a way to turn it off by using the AC button and fan speed and/or vent selection buttons in a certain sequence while the key was in the 2nd or 3rd position in the ignition.

This is for 7G Civics. Not sure if it will work with 6G Civics.
) Have the car turned off.
2) Turn vent **** to off (All the way to the
left, counter clock wise).
3) Turn temperature **** to full blue (All the
way to the left, counter clock-wise).
5) Start car and keep both air recirculation button
and A/C button depressed for 7 seconds.
6) Wait for air recirculation button to stop
flashing.

Re: AC turns on by itself.
I tried it and does not work.....so we got that out of the way.....I guess I will just disconnect it. I don't even use the AC on hot days...I just roll down my windows.

Re: AC turns on by itself.
This happens because you have the climate control set to defrost. As mentioned, this is totally normal. This is how it's supposed to work. See, the A/C removes moisture from the air when it's on. It's ideal that the air being used to defrost the windows would not have moisture in it.
Once it turns on, just press the A/C button and it will turn off.
No need to disconnect anything. This is really east and not really a lot of hassle. Definitely less hassle than putting the button back in (or plugging the harness back in) when you decide you want to use air conditioning.
