Found a jdm d15b with 3 stage vtec for like $500 complete. Will this work in the ex? Do I need a dif ECU, mounts, or anything? Let me know asap

there slow but good for fuel economy you can use a chiped p28 it will work

I think your referring to the D15z1 out of a vx MRHarmonic. The D15b is like 130HP. It should work in your car, as for the 3 stage vtec, I would say your better off with the right computer to the d15b as I think the USDM motors are all 2 stage vtec or single stage. The mounts should be fine post up a link to the motor and where you are getting it from so we can check it out an help you.

would i be better off with another y8 or will the D15b run just as good. They both have around 130hp i read

just get another y8, $500 is way too much for a D series. I paid $200 for a y7 with 80k

just cant seem to find a d16y8 or d16z6 for a decent price. thats why i was testing all options

I had a JDM D15B Non vtec in a 97 civic dx... And I have to say that was the best D-series motor I've ever had(I've owned 6 d series civics too)... So I don't know how the 3 stage vtecs go, but I will say don't worry about the .1 less liter.......
