Default 99 Civic DX- P0132 and over heating after installing timing kit.

Hey guys, I need help.. over the weekend I finish putting back together my 99 Civic DX after putting a new engine and then a timing belt kit weeks after installing the engine and after going for a test drive I ran into issues.

The issues that I having are that 1 getting the code p0132 for (Bank 1 Upstream sensor 1 high voltage), when I test drove the car it hesitates in taking off in every gear, but then once it slowly it get to around 3k rpm it rebs fine and the car gets going. I did search online about the 02 sensor issue and I found a thread where the OP said they the car was driving like crap when the code came on.. Could the code P0132 be the cause of those symptoms?

The other issue I am having is that the car is overheating, when idle the car will warm up normally, but after that it gets past *200F and slowly it will start rising to 208-220F, the fan will cycle of get it to around 208. The weird part is that if I give it gas the temps will decrease and during my last test drive it was fine at first but then the temps started rising and the car started to bug down.. But once the car regained power then the temps decreased almost back to normal but then it was up and down. Could this be a timing or water pump issue since the car never over heated before the timing belt kit or could it be the Temp sensor going bad creating a false reading?

I will be ordering a new O2 sensor tomorrow, to take care of that code, but I wanted to know if the hesitation issue was part of the code..

I have a build thread to log the progress of the car since the point when i got it to until now.here

Ohm test the O2 sensor wires before you replace the sensor.

Bleed the cooling system thoroughly.

What should be the normal ohm reading? I did over the weekend and got 13ohms and there is continuity between the two black wires.

Edit, Yeah I will try to burping the cooling system after I get home from work, to see if there is air which I now could cause overheating.

I think you may be testing the sensor heater wires. You need to test the two O2 sensor wires on the wire harness side for a short or open.

What colors should I test in the harness side? I remember I tested the 2 wires on the harness side and got 12.1v but I dont think I tested the ohms

With the key off, Ohm test the two wires that run to ECU pins C16 and C18.

Well I figure it out smh.. All this little issues where obvious mistakes I made.

The over heating was due to air, I should know better since this is not my first time flushing, the coolant system on a car..

The O2 sensor code, was due to the fact that I had the primary and secondary connectors mixed.. This morning before I went to work, I was trying to test Ohms like you mentioned, and then it hit me and thought let me switch them to see what happens, cleared the code using the Torque AP on my phone and the code never came back.

The sluggishness was a combination of accelerator cable not set to the right tension(I still need to adjust it to find the right spot), and maybe also due to the brand new clutch still need to be broken in..

I took it for a mix city and highway test drive, and after a while the car started to find its form, the acceleration was getting normal from a stop, the temps were completely normal while at idle the fan will kick in at *204F, the highest I saw on my Torque AP was *208F.

Once I get out of work, I continue to play with the accelerator cable to get it to the right tension. Thanks RonJ@HT I appreciate your help.

The accelerator cable is supposed to have a little slack in it.
When the pedal is up the throttle should be completely closed, the cable does not hold it open to compensate for a low idle.

In my case it feels like it have too much slack, and it was sticking open before I readjust it last night. It was ideling at around 500-600rpm then if I rev it a little then it will stick at around 1000rpm and then slowly come back down.

Played with the adjustment the last couple of days, and this morning I think I got it close enough the right spot, it drove better with a better acceleration from a stop and between shifts. The fact that this car is slowerer than my mazdaspeed doesnt help to get the right feel of the Civic lol but once I get more seat time I should be able to get the right feel of the car.
