99-00 civic ex cluster w/ tach
i just got a 99-00 civic ex cluster w/tach on my 97 cx, wondering if it would work plug-n-play, would the RPM work also? i noticed that the left side of the cluster directly behind the RPM has a yellow and green plug inserts, i plugged in the yellow one perfect fit, when i took my green plug it wouldn't fit in the green insert? what is the green for anyways? don't know what to do, help i jsut want the cluster to work and have it able to read RPM.

Yes plug and play. I put a ex cluster in my 99 dx hatch and worked fine. I forgot how many plugs there were, but I think it was whatever and however many plugs that went into your original cluster is all you need to plug into your new cluster. There was an extra plug that I never used back there behind the dash.

As was stated above. Yes it will work. The tach signal wire (blue wire) is already in the plug at the back of the cluster so it is just plug and play.

i was messing with an ex cluster in my friends car the other day. I saw all together 4 plugs. One in the center top one on the right top side and the green and yellow on the bottom right. So if i plug an ex cluster into a 97 CX HB the GREEN plug will be an extra and wont need to be used right?

yep, that is correct. i swapped a EX cluster into my 97 CX HB and it works perfectly everything, except so far i haven't tested if the gas light works. anyone know if the gas light will work when i'm low on gas?

Re: (blaster834)
that green plug might be for the automatic transmissions, the part on the gauge cluster that shows which gear you are in...just a thought
