Default 97 Del Sol Si - need help with cable reel / clock spring

if my cable reel/clock spring was bad would the horn relay click?

i over turned my steering wheel by a tiny bit and was wondering if that could of messed up my cable reel/clock spring?

my wheel is off center just a lil. so when i had car jacked up and turned the wheel idk if that could of damaged it?

but my horn worked before and didnt work after. i hear a click tho so i dont know if that mean the clock spring is good or not?

lmk if you have any info

1 did youhave the steering wheel off the car
2 did you have the steering colum disconnected from the steering rack

if you answered no to both then you shouldnt have done anything to the clock spring
( check your fuses )

if you answered yes to either or both then ...well yes prob damaged ..get a new one

if you need to know how to set your new clock spring before you put it on PM me

More then likely you did damage it but I thought that could only be done if you removed the rack from the pinnon and didn't strap down the steering wheel

No such thing as over turning the wheel. If the cable reel is centered correctly, you should be
able to slam the steering wheel lock to lock without breaking the reel.

Not sure about the clicking relay, but if you snap the cable reel the horn, CC and SRS might not
work. You'll know the SRS isn't working if the light stays on constant.

Well i have an interesting curve ball to throw into the mix. I have a SRS light displaying in my del sol and the clock spring is the first place i have been told to check for the problem. Seeing as this is an area im not very familiar with, how can i check this out?

You MUST provide all pertinent information about your car and engine. Failure to do so may result in thread closure.

I understand, but not everyone's signature matches the car/engine under discussion. In addition, 97 and EG2 and Si are contradictory.

i didnt have the wheel off recently. but the previous owner did. he swaped a integra wheel and it was off by a lil bit. i had the front wheels off the ground and turned wheel to lock both ways now my horn doesnt work.....but i also honked the horn at someone right before....so i dont know what caused it.

where is the horn fuse? if you dont know ill give it a look tomorow.

my srs light was already on. when previous owner put in new wheel the light came on. he said i have to reset it to get it off.

but i want to check the fuse first and grounds tomorow. do you know where the fuse is for the horn?

also my car doesnt have CC its a 1995 civic dx sedan so i cant test that
