97 CIVIC EX OBD2 & MOTOR SWAP QUESTIONS!!
Okay guys been doing research on this topic and not finding what i'd like to know so here goes!
First Live in Pittsburgh pa (Emission Testing required)
I have a 97 Honda EX Coupe
D16Y8 Not sure of ECU numbers at the moment.
First issue at task is I spun a Crank bearing so motor work / swap is needed.
Would like a little input from you guys on setup choices!
Buy a Used D16y8 Tare down and put in Turbo pistions and I-beams and new crank
or Swap out for B16A1-2 And Place Turbo internals in that!
Next question at hand is ECU!!
I need to maintain the OBD2 System and dont want the hassle of swaping things out each year!
Will the Emanage Ultimate Piggyback tied to the correct OBD2 ECU for choosen Engine give me the options i need to Tune a Boosted Car?
Need the Rev limit, Speed Limitor, Fuel and ignition timing for adjustment.
Sounds like that will do what i need from reading Greddys web site. But wanted to know what you guys think of it and if it will do what i want.
Motor and turbo setup and only going to be about 10psi Max just enough to get me near 175 - 200 hp want to maintain reliablity...
Thanks for the help guys!!! The OBD2 - Obd1 Conversion and swapping out the injectors and all that crap souds like more work than it's worth! I want do this right the first time and not have to come back to deal with it later to get past emissions.

Re: 97 CIVIC EX OBD2 & MOTOR SWAP QUESTIONS!!
Simply put, you will need an ODB2 capabilities for emissions. listed below are combinations for your needs:
Type 1
Engine -LS b18b 96+ - Good for boost later
ECU - ODB2 p75
Engine Harness - Stock LS
Type 2
Engine - B16 (no matter year)
ECU - JDM ODB2 b16 ECU (delete unecessary sensors on later year models but maintains OBD2 sensors)
Engine Harness - ODB2 harness(you may have extra plugs and it will need to be from an LS OR ), ecu, and Distributor
these two scenarios will allow for plug and play (utilize the shock tower plugs on both sides)
