Default 97 Civic Engine Overheating

Whats up everyone,

I'm curios, when I'm driving around town my engine temp. is normal, halfway, but suddenly when I say stop at a stoplight my engine begins to rise to 3/4 of the top. However, once I start moving again it decreases back to normal...is this probably a bad thermostat?

What do you guys think?

Stop overheating the engine.

Is the fan coming on?

1. Check coolant level (if low its leaking or burning, find source of leak)
2. Check to see if your fan cycles on and off (if not then you'll need to diagnose the fan motor, relay, fuse, switch)

How can I check to see if the fan cycles off and on?
