'96 Hatch brake swap ?'s
I just recently did a rear brake swap on a '96 Hatch (drums to disk). The swap came off a 99-00 Civic Si. Everything bolted in just fine. The problem I'm having is that the e-brake is not working properly. It's not clamping down enough to hold the car in place. I have tried to adjust it, but no avail. The disks were resurfaced, new pads went in, and the brake fluid was bled in all four corners. The car stops fine, better than before, but the e-brake just won't work properly. Anyone have any ideas? If so, please shine some light on this direction. Thanks!!

Re: '96 Hatch brake swap ?'s (Fred n J's_1.8's)
I used the ones that came with the swap (99-00 Si). I can not use the ones that where on the drum/old set up.

TTT. I still need help. I know someone out there has the answer since I'm not the only one that has done this. Thanks!

I've done this swap, I didn't have any problems at all... mine adjusted just fine, and the e-brake stops the car from rolling in just 4-5 clicks. 00 Si brakes and 00 Si cables on a 98 DX sedan. Have someone pull the e-brake and you watch that the cable is working at the caliper. There may be too much slack in the cable. Does it feel like there is ANY tension at all on the e-brake handle? Maybe the cables are broken/damaged and you need new ones.

are you adjusting it at the brake handle? as in remove armrest? there's no reason that shouldn't do the trick, unless you didn't bolt the e-brake cables into all of the factory holes when installing them. i did this exact swap into a 96 coupe with no issue.

I didn't have any problems with the install (only a few seized bolts and two new LCA's). I had someone pull on the e-brake and you can see that it's working. Yes, you can feel the tension on the handle. I'll give it some more time to see if it self adjust. Thanks for the help.

Yes, I have removed the armrest and adjusted the e-brake handle. The cables were mounted to all the factory locations. How much movement (on the caliper side) are you supposed to see when the e-brake is applied? Thanks for the help.

maybe the cables are too long, because u are trying to use it on a hatch. try some integra ones or some from a 92-95 Civic Si hatch. Hey I got a 4 door EK civic with a GSR rear disc swap with integra cables, been looking for 99 SI ones because they are longer. The integra ones work for me, but they are a little short. If u lived in Socal, I woud trade u cables
