Default '96 Hatch e-brake problem.

I recently completed a rear brake swap (from drums to disk) on a 96 Hatch. The brakes work fine, but when I apply the e-brake, it does not work properly. It can't even hold the car in place. I can see the e-brake mechanism moving when applied. I'm using the e-brake cables that came with the swap (99-00 Si). Can anyone shed some light on this direction? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When you assembled everything, maybe you twisted the caliper pistons all the way in? You might have to pump the brakes and/or pull the handbrake lever many many times. The auto-adjusting mechanism inside the caliper has to take up all the slack. Or you could pull the calipers & turn the pistons counterclockwise, until they're sorta close.

Yes, I did twist them, but not all the way in. Just enough to install the calipers with pads on the disks. I have had the brakes installed over a month now, still no work. Granted, she is not my daily driver as of right now. Maybe I have to start driving her everyday and give it some more time. Thanks for the help. Later.

If it's been that long, there's probably something else wrong. Are the cables the right length? Do they operate the levers properly? You said you can see it moving, so I guess that's OK...

When I take a wheel off, I can twist the lever (on the caliper) & lock up the brake. Can you do that? Maybe the handbrake mechanism inside the caliper isn't working right?

check the ebrake cable length, alot of the time when you do a drum to disc conversions you dont get the right cable, depending on where you get them

alot of rear brake/ e brake assemblies readjust when you reverse and slam on the brakes not sure if honda is the same way, also check the e brake adjuster under the center console
