does anyone know if the rear hatch door of all 96-00 hatchbacks are the same...i have a 98 hatch and im wondering if i can just put any of those years on

yes its the same - tail lights are different color but same shape (i had a 97 & now I have a 2000)

The front end of the 96-98(especially the head light housing) is different from the 99-00. Same goes for the front bumper and the climate control.

I believe everything else are the same.

the front end is completely different....bumper, grille,fenders, headlamps, & hood are different

edit ICEDOWT below is correct...99-00 has NO trunk release but does have a manual lock on the inside near rear window glass (pull lock **** up to unlock - push down to lock)...both have a key slot on the outside to unlock/lock

on the 99-00 hatch the way u open the hatch is different, instead of opening it from the inside by the gas door you open it from the outside on the hatch i believe i think thats different too

I have a 98 and a 00 hatch and the relese is on the rear door on both... there is now difference between them. The only thing that could possibly be different is the roof spoiler, on cx models it is unpainted and also there is no rear wiper, on dx models they have the wiper and a body color painted spoiler.

a friend of mine already found one for me but ill definitely keep you in mind..oh and i got in contact with someone in the honda dealer and they told me that the 96-97 rear hatch are the same and 98-00 are the same also. so a 96-97 are not interchangable with 98-00 and viseversa...you guys already mentioned the lock mechanism being different but that is just one of the problems..the angle of the hatch along the edges of the glass is different also...if anyone else can post any other info it would be good too

That's weird.

I'm pretty sure that the 00 hatch my friend drives has the lock and key type latch on it, while the older ones have the truck release lever just like 92-95 hatches.

Does the 00 not also have an actual lever on the hatch itself that you must slide to the side like newer Integras in order to open it too as opposed to just popping the hatch and lifting like older EKs?
