im tryin to help my friend fix his car but it wont start. it just cranks but it wont crank over an after tryin to start couple time it backfires.
wat could it be. thanks 4 d help

Backfiring is indicative of timing problems, probably he has removed the wires from the distributor and not replaced them correctly, or maybe the distributos was removed and replaced 180 degrees out (it will engage, but it's not right) .
Could be poor fuel or water in the fuel, clogged fuel filter or injector filters.
I'd ask about the distributor first.

its gettin fuel an spark. i check d firing order few times. im thinkin its d timing too. how do i fix it

did ya remove the timin belt for some reason before? if you did make sure that the timin is correct. if you didnt check the firing order again

sum other guy did a headgasket job. how would u fix d timin with out removin d timin belt

timing gun or see if the mark on the crank pulley is lined up with the mark on the side of the timing cover and the distributor rotor is pointing at cylinder 1 spark plug wire...

Ok. Ill try to barrow a timin gun an see if dat wrks

look the crank pulley have one mark then have 3 lil marks on it,the 3 lil marks are for timmin .14.16 and18 degrees now, the one mark by its self is (TDC) top dead center,now look in the timmin belt cover there is two lil guides .now make sure the crank is on tdc and look at the cam pulley has up mark ,make sure its up,if it is off then your timmin its wrong
