Ok so i was driving down a road the other day crusin bout 60mph in 5th gear and happened to look down and realize i was losing speed. I eased onto the gas a little bit and found nothing happening.... I put it in fourth and gave it some gas and found the car sputtering and sounding like a bad miss. I turned the car off while moving waited a sec and turned it back over and she was fine.... Few minutes later i ran into the same problem.... any ideas???

Also i have a idle prob. After a few minutes of good idle it was bog down to about 500 and stay there for 2-3 minutes untill it finally comes back up to around 800????

Daily driver and i am in need of some help. Please and Thank you....

sounds like ignition is on its way out. I would check main relay, fues, fuel pump.

Fuses are good. Main Relay?. Fuel pump might be runnin a lil high on the psi......

if fuel pump is good, check ignition coil inside the dizzy.

Dizzy is brand new.

Is the CEL ON? Does the battery/charge light ever stay ON? Are all of the ground wires clean and tight?

I am gettin 9 16 and 43 for codes. Grounds are good and clean...

Code 9 and 16 definitely could cause the problems you are having.

Code 9 - check the CYL sensor in the distributor and its circuit.

Code 16 -- check the main relay and the fuel injectors and their circuits.

Ok would it be possible to get a lil more description than that? Reason i say is that i am a bit of a novice so i really odnt know where to start when you say check those things sorry but any help i can get is appreciated

16- only came on after i swapped out injectors when i found a dead one... replaced all four which led to the light

Code 9 - Check for lack of continuity or a short in the two CYL sensor wires running between the distributor and ECU. These tests require a multimeter. Another possibility is that one or both of these wires is not correctly pinned at the ECU.

Code 16 - The fuel injectors may be a mismatch for your engine and ECU.

Ok well give me a few days and we will put some work to it. Would it be to much to ask for you to check in a few days see what i have come up with?

ok on the multimeter what am i lookin for.... i have been post hunting and found a few of your replies and now understand alot to check lol...only thing i dont know what to look for is the multimeter readings...the amounts i should say

Unplug the distributor connector and ECU connector B (has B11 and B12 pins for the CYL sensor). Set the digital multimeter to measure resistance (Ohms) or continuity if the meter has this setting.

Test 1 looking for a broken wire: Touch one probe of the multimeter to the Orn wire terminal in the distributor connector and the other probe to the pin in ECU connector B corresponding to B11. You should measure a very low Ohm reading (1 ohm or less) or continuity. Do the same test for the Wht wire terminal and the B12 pin.

Test 2 looking for a short: This test is similar to test 1 except that you touch one probe to the ECU connector pin for B11 or B12 and the other probe to the metal frame under the dash. You should measure very high resistance (infinitely high) or no continuity.

Test 1 says continuity is fine.

Test 2 indicates a short. Did you get the same low Ohm reading for both CYL wires?

ok... black probe to body under dash....red probe to ecu- b11 & b12... 11 gives me a outrageous number and o.l. for 12.
black probe same place...red probe on harness wires both wires give me o.l.

any advice?
