Default 95 civic timing belt

Does anyone have instructions for installing a timing belt on a 95 civic? I need all the torque specs and stuff about the tensioner and I dont think my manual will get here in the mail in time. Thanks!

Crank pulley bolt- 134 ft lbs
Belt tensioner- 33 ft lbs
valve cover- 84 IN lbs
T-belt cover bolts- 84 IN lbs

1.allign the cam at TDC bu the arrows on the cam sprocket...2 will be flush with top of head and one will be pointing at an arrow on the t-belt cover.

2.Allign #1 piston at TDC by rotating the crank until the flyway key is pointing up and the arrow on the sprocket is pointing towards the arrow on the block.(remove spark plugs so there's no compression while turning)

3. Slid timing beltover crank pulley and up over the cam pulley as tight as possible(as little slack as possible on the radiator side of timing belt.

4. Then route the belt through the water pump and belt tensioner.

5. Rotate the engine via the crank pulley bolt counter clockwise for 2 revoltions for the tensioner to tighten up. Then torque it to specs. Rotate the engine a few more times and make sure at TDC that both cam and crank TDC marks line up with their respected markings.

6. Cover everything up, might as well adjust valve lash to specs and fire it up.

air tools, or- kind risky but...

take off the flywheel inspection cover and I jam a big closed ended wrench between the flywheel teeth and the tranny housing, so when you start turning the pulley, it james itself between and stops rotation. Does not take too much pressure to do it because of the big diameter of the flywheel compared to the crank bolt. Impact gun is easiest, but mine is too weak, but this has always worked for me without coming close to damaging a tooth

you can also take the oil pan off and block the crank with a piece of wood. It works really well but its a pain in the ***.

If your crank pulley has a hex opening, then you can use something like this:

I made this when I was replacing the timing belt on my D16Z6. I have an impact gun but I couldn't get the thing loose even using that. From what I've heard, not all the SOHC motors have the same crank pulley with the hex opening, so your mileage may vary. I just wedged this against the concrete and used a breaker bar on the pulley bolt.

I've got a tool similar to that for sale if anyone is interested.

I bought it to help with my own timing belt replacement project but my crank pulley does not have the hex opening so I have no use for it!

I just want to recover my investment so I'm asking $40 plus shipping. Email me for pics or more info: jwengert@rcn.com
