'95 Civic Coupe I need a loose stick/gearbox fix?
I'm about to purchase a '95 Civic EX Coupe (Canadian Branded) and when I test drove the car, I noticed that the stick was loose (Every gear could "jiggle" like it was in neutral even though I could shift into every gear without a problem.) The tranny itself made smooth solid shifts but not knowing when I was in neutral made me stall the car almost immediately. The car itself is great while in gear but I wanted to know how I could fix the shifter rod and how much it'd cost me.

put a short throw shifter in. you can do it yourself and while ur under there, u can make sure nothing is actually broke. shift linkage is prolly fine, just a little loose

Okay, if I replace the shifter rod, I'd probably need to change the mounting brackets but that's about it right? There shouldn't be anything wrong with the actual gearbox and linkages to the tranny?
