i just put this motor in the car and it only has 25000 miles on it and no grinding the tranny seems to be fine ,i think it might be the shift likage is bent, caose it only does it in 2 and 4 when the shifter is back

In my experience, shifter popping out of gear has always meant bad synchros... but if it's 2 and 4, I would suspect bent shift fork inside tranny.

I suspect either bent linkage or a loose/torn motor mount.
For the last damn time, SYNCHROS will NOT make a tranny jump out of gear.

Mine is doing the same thing but only in second I was looking into getting a 95 si tranny.. would it be better to just rebuild this one or would I be better off with the 95 si? Bone I read in the other post that the si tranny has the shortest second will this help my car? will this tranny will work with my car? D16Y8? thanks

Sorry, bro, but you're wrong! I had a tranny that kept popping out of third gear. When I took it apart, the syncro was cracked [actually broken clear through] on one side. I replaced it and it never popped out of gear again...

-Worn or out of adjustment shift linkage
-Clutch housing misalignment
-Gearshift mechanism i.e shift fork
-Synchronizer assemblies (inserts, blocking rings, sleeve and clutch teeth lost backtaper)
-Excessive endplay in gears and shafts
-Worn pilot bearing
