Re: 93 eg si sunroof tilt issue
I finally got a few minutes to play with the moonroof.
The existing "lube" was like a black tar. Very thick. I used some wax and grease remover (paint prep supply) and that was pretty good to break up the funk, but it took a lot of wiping to get it all out.
I decided to pull the moonroof panel (the glass) so I could really clean the tracks. FOr my '94 I needed a 5mm allen wrench tool. I figured my roof fitment was already off, so why not.
The roof operates much better now, w/o the jerky chatter I used to have. I still need to push up on the back of the roof panel to get it to pop up, but I think my adjustment of the panel is not perfect. I think the front of the panel needs to mount lower, and the rear of the panel needs to be higher.
White lithium seems to be fine so far.

Re: 93 eg si sunroof tilt issue
I just wanted to say this thread was pretty helpful to me. The sunroof in my 94 EX has had some issues with not opening all the way, and when closing it I get a fast clicking sound. I ended up pulling the sunroof out of the car and working on it the last 2 days. I discovered that all the grease on my cables has turned to a brown material that looked a lot like sawdust. This car was a one owner car before me (my sister), and it drove up and down a dirt road every day for a long time, so I think the dirt/dust got all in the grease and did that. Anyhow, I disassembled the motor and found that the "timing" of the little gear inside had jumped where it was supposed to be. The rapid clicking I was hearing was the teeth on the motor slipping on the cable (I can see some worn spots). I fully disassembled the sliding mechanisms and cleaned everything. One of the anchor springs was disconnected, and some of the sliding mechanisms were broken and/or bent/smashed. I tried fixing it and got one rail working really smooth, but the other one still has issues - it still wants to slide back before tilting. I just reassembled it with what I had, since there are no EG's in my local parts yards, and Honda doesn't sell any of the individual components (at least the ones I need) that make up the sliders. For now I'm going to just pull the fuse. I may revisit fixing the sunroof if I can get a spare or some parts to swap around and make it work. I am glad I took it all the way apart - I learned how it all works. Word to the wise - if you do fully disassemble it, I recommend doing one rail at a time so you can see how it all goes back together. There are quite a few pieces in the ingenious linkage that makes the sunroof tilt first then slide.
