i got a 93 del sol s, i was wondering what the lock right near my gas-door opener thing does??? my ignition key doesnt work in it? and what key do i use for the back storage compartments my key doesnt work in there either

it locks the trunk lever. the key you have must be the vallet key. you need the master key to lock that and to unlock the trunk.

the purpose is that if you give your key to the vallet, he can't get into your trunk.

ok but i can still open my trunk with this key so do i still have a valet key? how can i get a master key so i can use the lock boxes behind my seatS??

you can get a master key at a honda dealer. I do not know why your key works in the trunk but not for that, that is weird. Is the end of the key a circle or more of a triangle thing?

your ignition key must be different, because in my car the ignition key works for the rear compartments, and the lock for the gas tank door. thats weird.

Same here. The keys I bought from honda right after I got my car work for the doors, ignition, trunk, fuel door, and storage compartments. Take your car's title and your drivers license to a honda dealership and they will make you a key from your VIN. It's like $2-$4 a key.

So, how many del sols came with this trunk lever? My 93 's' didn't. I do have a lock for the fuel door though.

only 95+ came with a trunk lever...

That's what I thought, but I didn't want to say it since I wasn't sure. Then to the original poster, the lock is for your fuel door. Might be useful soon to. As gas prices go up the chances of someone stealing gas will go up too.
