Default 93 civic engine swap

My friend has a 93 civic with a blown motor. The motor in the car is a VTEC motor and he didnt know and got a non- vtec engine. Is their a simple way to swap these? He needs the car this week and i understand that i wont have a vtec solinoid or the oil pickup for when the vtec kicks in but can we swap them even if his check engine light stays on?

It will be fine, just perform the swap as if it was the same motor.

Vtec wouldn't kick in because it doesn't have it.

Your CEL will throw up a code if you use the same ecu as the one you did for you vtec motor. (usually a p28 if its d series) and if you swap to a non vtec your gonna get a code 21, vtec wiring. You can run the non vtec motor on this ecu fine but the CEL will probably annoy the **** out of you, i suggest finding a cheap po6 ecu or something that is your motors actual ecu.\
