Default 92 vx d15b swap plus boost

well i picked up my first eg and had a few questions....first of all i am gettin a d15b from hmotors and was wondering if the vx trans would bea good choice or f i should go with the trans they sell with the motor....i plan on building a homeade turbo kit very soon after i get the motor(prolly b4 i put it in)was just wondering if anyone has had experience with this combo...also i only plan on running about 7 psi or so on the street....thanks

well i answered my own question on the trans....any other suggestions as far as the motor goes??

VTi motor (D15B) is a great turbo platform - i'm scared the comp isn't low enough though.. Bense has a good idea of what's great for low comp turbo platform - and GREAT knowledge about trannys too.

DO NOT USE THE VX TRANNY!!! They are geared for mpg and definately not for speed. Use the tranny that comes with your motor or use a DX,SI/EX. How much boost you can run on a stock motor usually depends on the tune. With a good tune you can run 7psi on high test. You might want to get a better fuel pump, maybe some injectors, and a fuel pressure reg. You should try d-series.org...they have a bunch of boosted single cams. Good luck!

kool thats what i need a good site with good info.....i like the d15 cuz its a "stock" replacemnt type and there isnt too much involved(i have to drive like 100 miles a day so)and yeh i did some research and i definately found that the vx trans is poop!!!lol...some kid in school today was tryin to tell me to use the vx trans cuz of the long gear ratios...i told him he was nuts but i needed u guys to prove it to him..lol....thanks and ill keep u posted

i will tell u from recent experience do not use the vx/cx tranny with the d15b is is slow as dog **** runnin backwords. i have a d15b with an 92-95 ex/si tranny and just regular bolt ins (i/h/e etc..) i love the way the car feels and i still get pretty good gas mpg. i keep up with cars that i know are alot faster than mine ... wither way u wonty be disapointed the car is very responsive when u hit the gas.. no hesitation what-so-ever. let me know how the boost goes i plan on boosting mine soon or going to the K side lol
