Default Hone / Sleeve :-o

Ok well here it is,
Im buying a 94 ex coupe to put into my si shell (it has a vx motor) the ex motor / tranny have 202k miles on them.. i know alot.. i plan on running it until it blows up.. then rebuilding it / turboing it.. I've heard from a lot of people that D series should be sleeved if going for alot of boost.. and if I rebuild it with decent internals ill run a decent amount of boost.. anyways.. has anyone ever sleeved a d16z6? or have an idea on how much it cost them? has anyone ever honed one? and any idea on that price?

One more thing.. when i do the swap.. since the vx is already vtec can I use the vx wiring harness? or just use the ex?

(I searched but my computer NEVER completes the search.. just sits and spins)

Thanks In Advance
-Cody

Yea, d16s get sleeved all the time, you would be in best luck looking around in the FI forum and asking people. And yes you can use the vx harness but you will end up with the egr plug left over.

I did a B16 swap into a VX hatch, and the only problem i ran into is that the VX has a 5-wire o2 sensor, i re-did the whole wire harness, im sure their are easier ways around it. I think Hasport makes a kit for it. But if ur just conserned with vtec working it will work.

1.) you want to run the engine until it blows up, which automatically makes you retarded. Dude, do you have any idea the kind of catastrophic damages incurred when an engine lets loose at 6000RPM due to abuse? You can't sleeve an engine with a rod through the water jacket, nor can you reuse a head after shrapnel bounced around the combustion chamber for 15 seconds.

2.) you seriously asked if anyone had ever sleeved a D16Z6. Are you a real person?

3.) I don't think you know what honing means after seeing you use it. You don't have to hone brand new sleeves as it's already done by the place that machines them into your block. If you're talking about honing the OEM cylinder walls yourself, yeah, it's easy. Take the block apart and use a honing attachment for a power drill. Use lots of oil and measure your separation angles to make sure you're close to OEM specs before you stop.

4.) don't pretend like you know something when you ask these kinds of questions.
