I have an issue with my Civics driver side manual door lock. The lock itself is very flimsy, it doesn't actually unlock / lock the door. I can tell that the rod has separated from the rod. I can lock the door from the outside, but not the inside.

I know that there is a rod that connects to this latch. It feels that the rod is no longer attached, I suspect that the rod is not connected because the piece that has the little hole to attach the rod is broken.

Does Honda sell just the little lock latch or do i have to buy the whole assembly?

I'm always confused on this one. Which side do I need? It's the drivers side, i'm assuming it's the LEFT side?

Part store sells the clips. They have a pack with a bunch of different sizes that worked for me.

Open up the door and see what's broke then hit up us or the junkyard. Hard to say there are a couple of rods and clips in there.

^ Yep, definitely take a look inside. Sometimes it's the little lock **** right by the handle that breaks ... from the symptoms you describe that sounds about right. Definitely hit up a junkyard. In fact, I should be at one tomorrow, I'll have a look for you.

i have something similar. i can lock my doors from the outside, but from the inside i gotta pull and hold the handle then lock the door then let go of the handle for the door to actually lock.

That's not similar at all. That's how the lock is supposed to work on the driver's side!

I am talking about the little plastic clips that holds the rods behind the door panel.
Are you talking about the actual tab that is by the door handle that indicated locked or unlocked? I have blue handles that I am about to swap out for black if interested.

I showed my friend this because he had been locking his door from the outside with a key for years. I figured it out pretty quickly on my first Honda.

TBH, that's the objective. Lock it with your key from the outside and you have a much smaller chance of ever locking your keys in the car!

I checked earlier and the locking tab is broken off the metal wire.
