first post newbie

i just bought a 92 civic and the speedometer went all the way around and now is stuck under the peg below zero. it still works, you can see it jump as i drive and the odometer works. i was just wondering if anyone had this happen or if anyone knew a trick to getting it back?

uhhhh wtf? can you post a pic?

take your cluster out and start pulling it apart maybe...

and does this mean you went past 120mph?

thats what i was thinking too just i have heard of little trick to fix gauge needles i wanted to see if there were any tricks before i tore into the cluster

but she still has the stock 1.5 liter sohc that makes like 75hp, 120mph never happened lol

It can get knocked and just hang pointing straight down pointing at 6 o'clock. Just put it back into place and it will be fine. Uh - actually you will probably want to swap speedos anyway ... if you want to keep your orig mileage.

okay good i thought this was post of a summon claiming to do over 120 and breaking the speedo.... glad its not. never seen this or heard of it. replace the cluster. easy fix.

I got a 92 vx and it done the same thing after i done my engine swap. I just drove it alil bit and it started workin again. But it's the speed sensor thats bad so i'm changin it.

last night i opened up the cluster and spun the needle back around bur its still not working, would anyone have an idea how to fix the actual speedo because i would like to keep that odometer in the car

I had this happen once in my 93 si. It was a very cold morning and the speedo fliiped around for whatever reason when I started her up. What does it do when you give it gas?

now it just sits at zero, revving or driving wont even make it bounce

i took apart the actual speedo and noticed a small cap looked burnt, so i went to radio shack got a new one and we are good now!

glad to hear you got it worked out. mine would actually rev but negatively from zero. it was the strangest thing

I had this same issue in my 97 EX coupe recently because my VSS is going out.....my solution that works every time? Push it up over 100 and the needle will usually pull itself back into the correct area lol. Only works if your speedo is actually working though not just hanging in the center at the bottom.

my 92si kept doing this and id just pull it out and flip it back but i got annoyed with having to do it so i just broke the little post that its stopping against and now when it does it, it just keeps going all the way around. seriously.
