92 Civic VX - speedometer needle

92 Civic VX - speedometer needle
The needle has gone haywire. Odometer works fine. Do you think this is something I could repair myself? Shop said it would be 8 days and about $200-400.

**** that they are trying to get you up the butt. Go to a junkyard. Buy a guage cluster from any body style civic in the 92-95 year range. Then all you have to do is take the 3 bolts out of the back and just swap the whole thing in to yours. I takes literally like 4 minutes. I have done it hundreds of times and even for a beginner it will take no more then 5 minutes.

The guage cluster shouldn't cost more then about 75 dollars maybe 100 at some expensive places. I have 4 of them but you would have to deal with shipping. So just go to your local junkyard.
