Im looking for a muffler for my 92 civic hatch. I want the tip to be no more than 3in or 76mm. What is good out there to buy?

I know this isn't what you are requesting but thought it looks pretty nice so thought I'd let you judge for your needs.

Get that eBay garbage out of here. Even if he does buy that, he'll STILL need a muffler for it. "N1 style" mufflers are the reason people hate Hondas.

OP, go down to your local parts store (or Amazon) and buy a Thrush Turbo muffler. Quiet, well built, whatever size you want, easy to weld on, and about as cheap as you can get a good muffler for.

You see the N1 style on chevy cobalts, volkswagons, hondas, mazdas and just about any non muscle car around here. I think it depends on your area.

Anyways, OP, I'm confident NotARacists suggestion will fit your request very well. What I was looking for when I stumbled across the stereo typical muffler on ebay was the dual out tube oval exhaust I've seen on several VW's, some Integras and even a few Civics. Has a good sound while not being obnoxious and looks good with the twin tips angled up just after the bumper. Couldn't find it though unfortunately.

They are the stereotypical "ricer" muffler. Loud, obnoxious, and cheap. They actually make cars louder.

As far as how it looks coming out of the back of the car, Jegs and Summit both sell a metric boatload of tips, most being cheaper than $15. You can buy a tip and have it welded on, and get basically whatever look you want under your bumper.

I scowl at anybody locally with an N1 style, honda, chevy, POS, period.
They're terrible; you could strap a shitty *** coffee can packed with fiberglass and get better noise reduction.

You misread what I wrote. I wasn't talking about a tip on an N1. I was looking for the twin tip (twin output) oval mufflers I've seen. N1 is a round coffee can, not oval. And flatish oval, not even large oval like the stock 3 door EG hatchback.

These ones have a nice quiet purr, not obnoxious or loud but nice tone. The slant up is by design, not a secondary tip welded on for the ones I've seen. Not sure what brand or "design" name they are.

I know the N1 makes the car louder, I believe that's the point. Some people want to sound like a track car (little to no exhaust) while still being street legal with full exhaust.

Here is the one I was looking for, Dual DTM muffler. Would take some work to weld some hangers on for the civic. You'd also have to modify the bumper.

Spec D is another one of those "eBay special" brands. Seriously, you can get the exact same look, with MUCH better performance with a normal muffler, and whatever tip you want welded onto it.

My lord, I wasn't going for brand, I was trying to find the style. Magnaflow makes the dual tipped DTM muffler as does Tanabe(?) and I'm sure other quality manufacturers.

Here is magnaflow for petes sake:

http://www.carid.com/universal-exhau...s-1569088.html

I was hoping someone knew the design name which I ended up finding to share with yall.

As for Spec-D... One thing I can say is that they do solid welds to all parts unlike some of the other ebay trash. However, like all ebay non name variants, it is hit or miss, seems their quality is going down lately probably due to economy so materials cost reduction and manufacturering process savings are coming about killing the quality.

Like I said though, I was trying to find the look, not a specific brand. So OP had an idea of what "design" to request from the "brand" they wanted.

Ah, now you're starting to make sense! Still, though...for $217, you could assemble 6 of what I've been talking about. Tips are purely stylistic. I get what you're saying, though.

I dont like that big round circle, looks ugly and i do not want duals. I want a muffler that looks good and sounds good. The tip has to be no bigger than 3in. That big circle ones are like 4in, which i do not want.

just weld a piece of straight pipe on instead...mufflers are over rated

I left my 3'' K-teller as a straight pipe no ugly muffler or resonator.

A straight pipe on a normal run of the mill, plain jane honda motor does not sound good imo. You might as well have the cheap ebay fart can at that point. I can only recall a straight pipe honda sound good either boosted or a very well built n/a motor.

Op, have you looked into vibrant stealth / streetpower mufflers? I had one on my ej1 and think it fits what you are describing.

Mine came as just a few pieces of pipe so I was inclined to leave it like that when I welded it lol sounds good to me but mainly a track thing. doubt you'd get far with it on the street, but I do prefer ppl with straight pipes to those big N1 mufflers which sound like angry bumble bee's driving by.
