92 civic hatch speedo not working
i swap a ls motor in. and the speedo would not work. the rest of the cluster does. i changed the vss sensor. i checked the connector to see if it was broken. looks fine. i havent checked the voltage because im on TDY in the Marine Corps. but im changing stations when i get back and was looking to fix it before i drove across country. any ideas? could it be the cluster? thanks

Did you just swap motors or did u do a complete swap?? im assuming the speedo was working before you swapped this. Did you take the whole vss out or just the top half??

Re: 92 civic hatch speedo not working
i swapped complete motors. motor tranny and vss from the ls swap. like i said i have already tried a working vss from my previous gsr swap. and i did take out the whole vss, with the gear and all. yes the speedo was working fine before. maybe a little jump around 5-20 mph but thats about it

Re: 92 civic hatch speedo not working
I had an issue with mine. I looked into it and there are 3 wires, one is 5 volts in, one is ground and one is a 5 volt signal wire that turns on and off. Check for a ground and 5 volts first with the ignition on, then the 5 volt signal wire runs from the VSS sensor, through the harness, through the driver's side shock tower plug and goes to the ECU and gauge cluster.
Mine was corroded. I cut the plug and ends off since the ends and the plug were all messed up, soldered on another and it's been working great since.

ive tried my usdm cluster and my jdm cluster.
would the black/yellow wire running into the dizzy affect it? ive read that before but in those cases it was a jumpy speedo needle.
