Default 92 Civic - Hard to start

So I drive my car almost every day and today was the warmest it's been so far this summer.

I went to start it this evening and it didn't start the first try. It kept turning and turning but wouldn't fire. I tried 3-4 seconds at a time to start it, and nothing. Did this about 6 or 7 times, and thought I was going to be stuck. Opened the hood, glared at my engine - closed the hood and tried again. It started right up.

Made a few stops today, and hasn't repeated itself.

Air filter is clean, 3/4 full tank of 93 octane, oil changed about a month ago along with spark plugs. I'm stumped.

Did the check engine lift come in for 2 secs and turn off when turning it to the position before crank? Check for this next time it does it, probably the main relay acting up.

Stock 92 Civic? Try resoldering the main relay and cleaning and tightening the G101 ground on the thermostat housing.

By the way, 93 octane gas has no benefits and is a waste of money for a 92 Civic, which was designed to run on regular 87 octane gas.

Hot as hell today. Did it again to me, but after several tries she ran again.

Just to clarify; I was under the impression that the CEL is supposed to come on for 2 seconds while you're starting your car to show that the light works. I thought that was every car.

you already have two guys telling you its your main relay. like ron said you can resolder it or just go to your nearest auto parts store and pick one up. ive had the same problem. they are pretty finicky when it comes to hot weather and humidity. its right here if you dont know where it is.

I spent 2500 at the dealer....and found out via this website a long time ago the downfalls of the main relay which caused me all that grief.

They are $38...just replace it. A huge headache solved.
