Default 92-95 EG Full on cable clutch conversion.

Got some questions, because my bud minh keeps bustin his master cylinder on his 94 dx b16 hatch every month or two. He would like to basically convert his car to cable clutch like my hatch, "89 si" and it's pretty simple in theory i told him, basically cable clutch consists of a actual cable that runs from under the clutch pedal "where it's hooked up at" too a hole, threw out the engine bay and right on the side of the cable tranny is where it pops on, pretty simple and no hydro lines crap and clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder and all that good **** i had to worry bout and expletive with when i had my 92 vx hatch before the one i got now.

He already has a YS1 Gsr cable transmission with his kit that makes that usable on his hydro car, but as you can tell it gets old having to change the MC every month or two and bleeding the **** upside down and what not. Well anyways the hole where the clutch MC on the 92-95 i was thinkin IS big enough for a actul cable to run to the clutch under the dash around the pedal assembly, and the 88-91 pedal assembly, or the clutch pedal part itself is or should be universal, or bolt up the same i would assume.

So basically im asking you guys what you think and if it's been done before and what your opinions are on the matter, because me and him are serious about this and it seems pretty straight forward. The only thing he would need is a clutch cable itself with a clutch pedal or pedals assembly from a ED from the junkyard.

Am I really reading that someone wants to take a hydro car and put a transmission that's cable-operated and make the whole car's system cable-operated? If it wasn't that I wanted an entire line set for a hydrolic clutch conversion for my EF, I'd say this: That is a terrible idea. Cable sucks, I know from experience. Not only does it feel much stiffer than any hydro system in a 92+ civic (oem hydro clutch on a cable tranny/car feels like a HDSS clutch does in a hydro car), but its a pain in the *** to convert. You need diffrent mounts, you need to make an adapter or (in your case) repalce the lines with a cable. The other bad part is that the cable pedal pulls the cable from above the pedal pivot point, whereas the hydro system pushes the cyl from below the pivot point. You will have a fun time cutting & welding to make that work.

Honestly, he can sell that tranny for as much as a hydro gsr, as good cable trannies are hard to get. I would also surmise that he'll somehow be snapping cables if he's gone through a few cyl's already. OEM cables aren't too cheap either, I think they line them with gold.

btw I don't mean to come off as an ***, but there's some problem he has to find & solve first before thinking of converting. The worst thing you can ever to is modify/convert a malfunctioning system.

yeahyeah, all that is good opinion but all he would need is a cable and the pedal from a ED to use if im thinkin of this right. Btw i like a stiffer clutch "cable" then hydro, hydro just "seemed" too soft to me when i had my 92 vx hatch before my ED7 now.

O btw like i said his car already has a GSR YS1 he says, but it is a cable tranny on his b16 in his car with a hydro/cable kit to make it work. He does not need the mount because he already has hasport mounts and they fit fine with the tranny and motor, but all he would need like im tryin to say is a cable clutch with a ED clutch pedal, or the whole pedal assembly to switch over if it "looks" like it would work or even mount the same, idk haven't looked yet but we will see.
